What's a doula?

A trained professional who provides compassionate, informed support for your pregnancy, birth and early parenting journey - every step of the way.

Who is Sattin?

Hi, I’m Sattin (she/her). I’m a nurse, mum of two little women and a badass bitch. I have a huge desire to nurture mothers coupled with a no BS attitude. I want to help educate YOU to empower YOURSELF and find your voice in the birth space. As a nurse and someone who has a strong sense of justice, I would consider myself both a fiery and a gentle advocate for others. I want every birthing person to leave their birth feeling like they were heard and that their voice mattered. Both of my births were completely different experiences. With my first, I went in basically blind with no birth preferences, no continuity of care and a small amount of education. This birth left me deeply wounded emotionally, mentally and physically. For my second birth I was a fully qualified doula. I had a birth plan and the gold standard of antenatal care from the most incredible midwife. I left this birth elated, feeling listened to and in control. I was pain free and felt as though I could and would give birth one million times over.Neither of these births went to plan because birth rarely does, but the preparation changed EVERY THING. I want to give that to you.

doula details

A birth doula provides continuous emotional, physical and informational support to women and their partners throughout pregnancy, labour, birth and the early postnatal period. In Australia, doulas work alongside midwives, obstetricians and maternity care providers, offering non-medical support that complements the clinical care provided through public and private health systems.Research shows that having a doula can lead to more positive birth experiences, reduced interventions and increased confidence for birthing parents. From helping you navigate your birth options and understand informed consent, to offering comfort measures during labour and compassionate support after birth, a doula’s role is to advocate for your preferences and ensure you feel supported, empowered and heard during one of life’s most transformative moments.
